Happy Chinese New Year everyone. And nope, I'm not too late. Chinese New Year consists of 15 days mahhh. This year's Chinese New Year was extra nice due to 2 reasons. 1stly, this is the 1st time since I've started my degree course that I've gotten such a long break for CNY. ONE full week ok, plus some extra self-declared-holidays lah.

On the eve, my family had the usual reunion lunch at my grandparent's.

Ended the day with a reunion dinner with Hubby's family followed by a gambling session.

The 2nd reason why this year's CNY was so awesome was because it was my very 1st time going house visiting with Hubby's family. My own family has never practiced this tradition and therefore, my angpow collection every year is simply pathetic. But this year...WOAHHHH! It's almost triple of what I would usually get. Loving all the extra angpows that I got. I'm one happy girl!

Hey guys, happy new year! I know it's a bit too late but, what the heck. Been really busy with my final year research proposal and my final clinical placement. Finally done with both so, yay! Hope I'll pass and graduate...SOON!

Despite the busyness, I managed to steal some time off to have fun during new year's eve. Had a little 'syok sendiri' BBQ by the beach with some awesome people.

When the clock stiked 12, there was a small display of fireworks, shouts and cheers throughout the people-packed beach. Watched the fireworks, in the arms of my man, yamseng-ed and sealed the brand new year with a kiss.

I've not been up Penang Hill in long time. Went up with the family during Deepavali.

The new furnicular train was super duper fast. My butt did not even have it's chance to warm the seat.

Penang Hill is a relaxing place to chill, while enjoying the breathtaking view of Penang Island along with the cool breeze.

My good friend Pei brought me to this amazing place called China House for brunch on Deepavali. China House serves pretty awesome food plus it has a great ambience. Been there twice within 3 days.

A must try, Gateau Marjolaine (RM12), will keep you coming back for more.

Their Mushroom Bruschetta with Cheddar and Parmesan (RM16) was good too.

This amazing restaurant is made up of three herritage buildings, linked by an open courtyard.

It is still very new and certain areas are still under renovation. Even the signboard is not up yet.

Above the restaurant is an art gallery, which is open to the public.

I bet quite a few couples got married that day. I myself, attended a wedding on that chronological date.

About a month ago, Hubby and I received a wedding invitation from MS and KW. Love their unique wedding invitation.

MS and I have been in the same church since I was five. Didn't really know her personally till about 12 years ago. She was one of the awesome bunch of people whom I grew up with in the youth. We did alot of crazy stuff together, had loads of fun in camps and etc. Here's a picture of the nerdy us at a camp in Langkawi.

9.10.11 was the day that MS and her husband, KW, were waiting for. The wedding was held at the stylish CHCKL's new building. Everything looked so pretty.

Are Men Short Of A Rib?

Was reading this bible passage the other day, Genesis 2:21-22

"So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man".

Growing up in a Christian home, I've heard this story many times before. When I was little, my dad used to tell me that men have one lesser rib compared to women and I grew up with that knowledge in my head.

But now that I doing Physiotherapy, I've studied, palpated and seen both men and women's bodies and I'm certain that both men and women have the same amount of ribs. 12 pairs each. So I went and did a little research on my own.

There were a lot of theories regarding this matter. One states that only Adam is short of one rib and his descendant were not affected. For example, a father had his little finger amputated, it does not mean that his son will be born a finger short. Another theory states that in the original version, it said that "God took part of the man’s side", not exactly the ribs. So we don't really know which part of Adam's body God took. In addition, removed ribs MAY regenerate within 2-3 months of sectional surgery, as in the surgical procedure rib thoracoplasty.

Like what I always tell Hubby, what we know or rather what God allows us to know may just be a drop of water in the ocean. We'll never know everything until we go home to be with Him.

Round Penang Island Trip

I used to be oblivious of what's at the other side of Penang island, the west coast that is. The most, I've only been to Balik Pulau for a floorball competition years ago, and perhaps some childhood memories of tagging along with my dad when he went to pay the quit-rent.

As a Penangite, its quite memalukan to have never step foot on some parts of Penang. But weeks ago, I finally had the chance to go for a round Penang Island trip. Now, I can proudly tell people that I've been around Penang Island before. Haha!

Journey started off from my house to Batu Maung. From there we, headed west to the quiet fishing village of Kampung Sungai Batu.

After which, we headed up to Gertak Sanggul before stopping by at Balik Pulau for their famous Asam Laksa and nugmeg juice.

Then we stopped by the Tropical Fruit Farm near Teluk Bahang for some refreshing Fruit Ice or Ice Kacang.

So stop complaining about your current relationship, and start appreciating your partner before its too late.
There will always be someone else who can offer you the 20% you so long for, which your partner can't give it to you. You got to accept your partner for who he/she is cos no one is perfect, not even yourself. Look in the mirror before you correct or complain about your other half. And once you accept each other's imperfection, the perfection will come!

Low-Fat Banana Honey Muffin

Was a little bored yesterday so I baked some low-fat banana honey muffins. Did it successfully again today.

Dry Ingredients:
325g self-raising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon mixed spice

Wet Ingredients:
1/3 cup honey
2 tablespoon oil
240g mashed ripe banana
1 egg
3/4 cup skim milk

Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and mix the wet ingredients in. Fold gently until all the ingredients are mixed well. The batter should be lumpy.

Divide evenly among the muffin holes. Bake for 20 mins.

After years of anticipation, I've finally conquered the much talked about Pantai Kerachut (Kerachut Beach) on Monday. There are two ways getting there. You could either take the ferry or hike. The ferry services are available at the entrance of the Penang National Park, Teluk Bahang. As for hiking, the trekking trail starts from the entrance of the park itself.

We chose to hike. It took us about an hour to reach this isolated beach.

Warning: If you're planning to hike, be sure to bring someone who has been there or hire a ranger to hike along with you, as many have gotten lost in that National Park!

I saw this cozy little makan place from my friend, Grassy's facebook. It looked really interesting. So I brought Hubby there yesterday after our photowalk around Georgetown, as a belated birthday treat.

Here's our order:
Mushroom Soup (RM8) was rather 'watery' & 'peppery'. Didn't really like it.

Orange and Banana Smoothie (RM7) was good. Real fruits were used as I could chew on some fresh banana as I drank it.

Spaghetti Carbonara (RM17) was ok. The sauce was light and loads of herbs were used to bring out an aromatic flavour. Oh yeah, there was a generous amount bacon and cheese in it as well.

Soul Kitchen is closed on Tuesdays. Their operating hours are from 10am-2pm and from 6pm-9pm. Do check it out. You'll love it.

Macau & Hong Kong - Day 4

Woke up that morning, pack my stuff, bid farewell to Hong Kong and took the same ferry back to Macau. Had lunch at a shop named Traditional Chinese Noodle, at Taipa Village.

My Order: Dried Scallop & Mushroom Noodles (MOP 27.00)

They were really generous with their quantity of dried scallop. There were not only seven or eight scallops in the noodle, as seen in the picture below, but there were about 20 or more. I'm guessing scallops are really cheap for them. Overall, the noodle was really good. I'm craving for it as I'm typing this!

Macau & Hong Kong - Day 3

Yay, I'm finally done with my clinical placement at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. I've been so busy and had so little time to do anything ever since I started my training there. So happy that it's finally over. Now I can finally blog and finish off my last two Macau-Hong Kong blog posts in peace!

Okay, Day 3. Spent almost half the day over at Central, Hong Kong Island. It's crazy how Central is filled with crazily-tall skyscrapers.

Took a walking tour to see a few famous landmarks of Central, Hong Kong.

1st Stop: Legislative Council Building (Also known as Former Supreme Court Building)

2nd Stop: Bank of China Tower

3rd Stop: St. John's Cathedral (The ONLY freehold site in Hong Kong)

Outside the HSBC main building, stands two bronze lion statues, called Stephen and Stitt. Stephen has bullet or shrapnel scars in its left hind-quarters dating from the fighting in the Battle of Hong Kong.

Macau & Hong Kong - Day 2 (Part 2)

Sorry peeps for the delay of this post, in accordance to the last post. I've been really busy with my clinical placement at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Waking up at 5.15am every morning, and coming home to patients' assessment that I need to complete, is what that is keeping me busy.

So after touring around Macau, it was time to head over to Hong Kong. We took the New World First Ferry which cost about HKD133 per person.

Our first stop at Hong Kong was Fa Yuen Street Market.

And then we stop by a char chan teng (kopitiam) for lunch. I had wanton mee while Hubby ordered deep fried fish skin noodle. Although Hong Kong's wanton is wrapped with fresh prawns, I still prefer Malaysian's wanton mee. As for Hubby, he loved his order so much that he had that three times the whole time we were at Hong Kong.

We waited till 8pm for the Symphony of Lights performance. It was simply spectacular!

For dinner, I tried their beef noodle. I still prefer Sri Weld's beef noodle though.

After that, we dropped by Lui Yan Kai (Ladies' Street), which was just next to the street where we were staying at Mongkok.

Had a really awesome weekend with Hubby's aunty, uncle, cousin & cousin-in-law. They were here in KL for the weekend for a wedding. Spent the entire weekend with them, gambling, joking around, talking crap, eating, sleeping & etc. Was feeling accepted into the family.

Macau & Hong Kong - Day 2 (Part 1)

Hey people, I know it's been about 3 weeks since my last Macau and Hong Kong post.
Reason: Laziness to choose and edit all the pictures. Sorry the delay.

Hubby and I took SOOOOO many pictures on Day 2 cos we practically explored the whole of Macau in half a day before heading over to Hong Kong. Therefore, I'm gonna divide 'Day 2 post' into two parts.

After biding farewell to the hotel room with a great view of the Macau International Airport, we checked out and got to our first stop by bus. It's really easy going around Macau. All the tourist attractions are just within walking distance. Here are the pictures we took around Macau.

Had some really delicious Thai food at Sri Ayutthaya, Damansara Heights yesterday evening with my uncle's family before my cousin leaves for US again. It was my first time there and it wouldn't be my last. Uncle and Aunty ordered Fish Cake, Green Beef Curry, Soft Shell Crab, Toufu, Some Black Sauce Chicken, Squid and Coconut Kerabu. All the dishes were awesome and authentic but I love the squid the MOST!

Macau & Hong Kong - Day 1

Hey peeps, here's the post that you've been waiting for.

Got aboard my long awaited flight to Macau on the 18th December. With the help of Lonely Planet: Hong Kong and Macau City Guide, we planned our trip.

We stayed at Golden Crown China Hotel, just right across the Macau International Airport. That's me trying to withstand the cold weather without my jacket, standing at the airport's walkway with the hotel at the background, just right across the street.

It was really convenient staying at this hotel because most of the casinos' buses would stop at the airport. It's easy to get around Macau actually. Just hop on any casino's free shuttle bus which is nearest to the destination that you wanna go and then you can walk from the casino.

Our first stop was Taipa Village.

Had their famous Portuguese Egg Tart. Cost 7 MOP/HKD each. Very nice!

Also tried their Lai Cha (Milk Tea). 10 MOP/HKD each. Can really taste the 'kao-ness' of the tea, unlike Malaysian teh tarik, can taste susu sahaja.

Had Pork Chop Noodle for dinner. 20 MOP/HKD per bowl. The pork chop was really REALLY GOOD!!!

After dinner, we walked to the Venetian, which was just nearby.

I know it's kinda late to say this, but, Happy New Year people! Sorry that I have not blogged in such a long time. Was pretty busy when I was in Penang so I did not have the time to blog. My two and a half weeks Christmas break just ended and I'm back in PJ now. I know many of you are anticipating my Macau & Hong Kong blog post, but currently am very lazy to choose & edit the pictures as we took about 1400+ pictures. Will update on that ASAP.

Kids' Haven Christmas Party

Yesterday afternoon, I had the privilege of serving at Damansara Utama Methodist Church's (DUMC) Kids' Haven Christmas Party together with my cell group members. Kids' Haven is basically is a centre for special kids.

I was assigned to 'shadow' an autistic kid. The term shadow here means to follow him around (even to the gents) and help him carry out certain activities which he cannot do by himself. It was truly a great challenge and experience working with this kid the whole day. There were times when he was being really difficult that I wanted to give up. But thank God for the other teachers who helped me along the way.

Tried the non-alcoholic beer, Hoffenberg. Not bad I must say. Even though it is made out of malt and hop, it doesn't have the bitter yucky beer taste, more like some fruity carbonated water. And it's not expensive too, just RM2 something.

So here's the story...

I had an orange male Guppy which I've reared for many many months. I thought he was lonely and pitied him so one fine day, about a month back, I went to the pet shop at The Curve and bought a femaly Guppy to accompany my male Guppy.

Without me knowing...

They mated that night.

And the next day, the lifeless male Guppy was floating in the water. The female must be real horny & agressive till the male Guppy died of exhaustion. What to do, male is the weaker sex!

A few weeks later...

Hubby noticed some insect-tadpole like thingy swimming around in the aquarium. After looking closely, it was actually a baby fish. And the femaly Guppy was chasing after it and actually ATE it!

So we quickly took that barbaric-baby-eating-mother Guppy out and separated her in another container.

And we counted, altogether NINE baby guppies :)

And then the next day...

The barbaric female Guppy jumped out of her container and committed suicide. And so now, I have nine orphan baby guppies under my watch.

End of story!

To satisfy his dim sum crave, Hubby brought me to this place called Yuan Garden Dim Sum House on Sunday evening for tea. This was our second time there, where my uncle and aunt brought us there for our first.

Their dim sum are relatively fresh, compared to certain places. You can really taste and see the whole big prawn in every piece of dim sum, instead of chunks of pig fats.

Hubby has been craving for some BBQ steamboat buffet for a while now. And since he was on leave today, we headed over to Seoul Garden for lunch to satisfy his crave. Their lunch package price is RM26.88+ for adult and an extra RM3.99 for the free flow of drinks. As for student, the price is RM22.88+ with complimentary free flow drinks (Applicable on weekdays only except public holidays). Ain't life great to be a student? Haha!

They serve a wide variety of food: meat, fishballs, seafood, vege, noodles, salad, fruits, dessert, ice-cream and many more.

The beef was yummy while the shellfish wasn't that fresh.

After our tummies were satisfied, we headed over to GSC to catch Unstoppable. The movie was nice. Exciting and thrilling from beginning till end. It was worth watching.

Two Indian Weddings In A Day

The title says it all. This was my 1st time having to attend two weddings in a day. Power! What more, two Indian weddings. An indian friend once told me that Hindus are particular about the date and time of their wedding. It must have been a good Hindu date last Saturday to be able to witness two in a row.

First was my coursemate Geetha's sister's wedding on Saturday morning. It was my 1st Hindu Wedding Ceremony at the temple. Good experience I must say.

Batu Caves

Batu Caves is one of the tourist hotspots to visit in Malaysia. This unique and beautiful limestone hill which is a host to a few Hindu Temples is a favourite among Hindu devotees, photographers and tourists.

Just this afternoon, Hubby and I visited Batu Caves. It was my second time but the first for him. It was drizzling the whole time we were there, so we didn't manage to take many pictures. Here are some.

At the main entrance to the cave, the biggest statue of Murugan in the world (if I'm not mistaken) welcomes you. Lord Murugan is the god of war, according to the Hindu beliefs.

How to get there:

Batu Caves is 13 km from Kuala Lumpur City. The easiest way to reach Batu Caves is by KTM. You can also reach Batu Caves by bus 11 or 11d from Bangkok Bank Terminal (Near to Puduraya Terminal) or bus U6 from Titiwangsa. If you're driving, simply head to MRR2 and exit at 'Batu Caves'.

Hubby won two free passes to the new movie, Alpha & Omega last night at Cathay Cineleisure, thanks for ChurpChurp. Walked around for some window shopping at The Curve and Ikano before having a quick bite at Ikea. After having their hotdogs, our tummies were still not satisfied, so we head over to Secret Recipe for their yummilicious American Brownie. This is definately the dessert to die for. A must have for chocolate lovers!!

As they say, old is gold. But as you get older, you tend to become more careless and forgetful as well. That was what happened to my grandma.

She wanted to fry something few weeks back and so, she turn on the gas to heat up a wok of oil and went off to do something else while waiting for the oil to heat up. And guess what, she forgotten that the gas was turned on. When she realised it, the wok was already on fire. Panicked, as we all would be, she lifted the sides of the wok, wanting to transfer it down to the floor and cover it with a wet cloth or something. But while doing that, the heat from the fire was too intense and she dropped the whole wok to the floor. The hot oil burnt her leg.

She was home alone at that time. But thankfully, my aunt forgotten something and went back home to get it, just moments after she got burnt.

She's doing alright now, just that she's still in alot of pain. I wonder why the doctor did not give her any painkillers. Anyway, please pray for her for speedy recovery!

Got a try of Tutti Fruitti yesterday at Tropicana City Mall. It was my 1st time trying their frozen yogurt. Not bad, I must say. Kinda pricey though, RM5.30 for 100gm.

They also have a wide variety of toppings, ranging from chocolote chips to fruits. And those at Penang Island, there's a new branch at Island Plaza.

Yesterday morning, Hubby and I thought of going to the Mines, since we've never been there before. Not knowing how to get there, we just drove 'blindly', but we managed to find it at last.

Firework Session Turned Nasty

Since the ACMS students were leaving this week, we got together for dinner at KFC on Wednesday and planned to play fireworks later that night below where I'm currently residing.

I was reminded of my childhood days where I used to play fireworks with my cousins during Chinese New Year. It was fun. So was this.

We took so much pictures that night and had so much fun. And suddenly, a huge gang of men on motorcycles came out of no where and surrounded us. When I saw them coming towards our direction, I feared the worst and quickly walked away as fast as I could but they stopped me and told me that they were policemen.

They checked our IC and asked us some questions. I guess they were wondering what a group of people were doing by the roadside so late at night. Maybe they were thinking that we were doing drugs or something. But thank God for His protection the whole time. Thank God that we were all safe and nothing bad happened that night.

After talking to us for a bit, they left and asked us not to be at that area so late at night cos we might get robbed. Phew, a great relief went over me when they left. My first thought when they came towards us was, 'Shit, I'm gonna get robbed again, or worst, get raped!'. But guess I got lucky this time!

Love night markets? Then you should go to Wakaf Che Yeh if you're ever in Kelantan. It's like a maze that you could get lost in.

I went there on Tuesday night with Intan, Joo Ling, Yip Song and ACMS students, Sonia and Cory. It's like the huge-st night market I've even been to. It only opens daily around 9pm. And i guess, this would be the only night life in Kelantan ;)

Most of the shops were selling clothes, shoes and accessories.

And I also came across this funny thingy for sale. Money-printed packet (ang pow) for Hari Raya.

Also, tried a few things for the 1st time that night. First was the ice-cream with condensed milk . It was kinda nice actually, not as sweet as I thought it would be.

Second was promegranate. This fruit is rather popular here. They sell it like everywhere and it's quite cheap here, can easily get 5 for RM10.

After that, we headed over to McDonalds for supper before heading home.

After getting bored from all the buddha's statues, we drove even further north to Pengkalan Kubor's free-trade zone at the Thai border. To get there, we even had to pass a police checkpoint and two on the way back.

The stuff there weren't really cheap. Bought loads of cuttlefish and baby crabs snacks for myself, Hubby and my family.

And check out this striking hot pink men boxer. So bimbo-ish right? If your boyfriends or husbands have this, you should really be worried!

Next we headed over to what the locals call the most beautiful beach in Kelantan, Pantai Sri Tujoh. Two word to describe it...Dirty and awful!

We brought the RM1 rambutans along to the beach to 'entertain' ourselves.

After that, we had a funeral for the rambutan skins and we even made them a tomb.

When we were done with the funeral, we came back to Kubang Kerian, where we are staying and stopped by Mydin (yes, the best shopping place they have in this area is Mydin k..and it's as big as Tesco) to grab some groceries. What's so amazing about Kelantan is that businesses are temporarily closed for buka puasa. So we quickly grabbed whatever we needed before being stuck inside Mydin.

We then buka puasa together with Intan at D'Klasik Cafe nearby. I ordered Fish and Chips with Cincau Bandung.

Our exploration journey continues over the weekend. Being smarter than the 1st weekend here, we travelled yesterday, a Saturday, instead of Friday, where everything is closed.

This time round, we travelled north to Tumpat, a town famous for its many beautiful thai-influenced buddhist temples. On the way there, we had to pass by some kampungs and paddy field. The paddy fields were just serene.

1st stop was the Wat Pikulthong Buddhist Temple. A huge statue of the standing buddha awaits us.

After which, we had Nasi Kerabu just right beside the temple. I guess it should be quite famous since Yip Song's GPS was the one who suggested it to us. Eventhough the shop is just an old shabby atap hut, the Nasi Kerabu served has a very unique taste. It was very different from the blue Nasi Kerabu that you can easily find in Kelantan or Terengganu. This one was prepared by Thais. And when we asked for some chicken, the lady told us that they don't sell chicken, but instead they have pork, which comes in a satay stick. I kinda like this Nasi Kerabu more than the usual blue one.

Kinda felt bad for letting Intan wait for us in the car while we have a quick bite.

We also bought some rambutans. Only RM1 for the whole big bunch of them. Dirt cheap right?

2nd stop was the Wat Machimmaram Temple, the sitting buddha temple.

This picture was hanging inside the temple. They say that picture speaks a thousand words, and this one definately speaks a thousand of wrong ones. I thought buddha was a holy man. What's that booby girl doing below him?

3rd stop, was the Wat Photivihan temple. Here lies the largest statue of buddha in Malaysia.

So we've seen the standing one, the sitting and the sleeping one. And we started to wonder if there were supine and prone lying ones. Haha!

After this 3rd temple, we thought we've had enough sight of buddha's statue. Time to head over to somewhere else. Stay tune to find out where!

Dinner at Chinatown

Earlier today, I followed Joo Ling and Yip Song out for dinner at what seems to be Kelantan's chinatown. The place reminded me of the town area in Penang during the night, which is kinda dead. Maybe it's due to the rain or something. But thanks to them, I got to taste chinese food for the 1st time in 2 weeks :)

Had our dinner at this food court called Medan Selera Kebun Sultan. There were a wide variety of food choices there. Was kinda surprised that food prices here are almost similar to the prices in PJ. And most of the stalls have ONLY chinese words written on them, so if you're a chinese illiterate like me, you'll have a tough time ordering food (And all of the sudden, I felt the importance of knowing how to read chinese characters, maybe it's time to learn up. Haha!). Thank God that both of them were chinese educated and Joo Ling was so sweet to read and tell me what each and every stall was selling while Yip Song was kind enough to help me order.

Wasn't studying at all today, after work. And mind you, I've never studied so much in my life during posting. And my 'so much' is just looking up those terminologies that I don't know that I've come across in the ICU on that day itself. That's pretty much all I do. I don't even read up on stuff other that those I've come across during the day. Well, at least it's better than not opening my books at all like what's I've done during all my 4 previous postings. Haha. I'm a lazy ass, I know. I just don't know how some of my friends can just sit down and study for at least one solid hour per day. I can't even concentrate for a solid 15mins. My mind will just wander away.

So yeah, I didn't hop onto google to check any of those terminologies tonight. All I did was watch all the videos which I took with my camera. Most of them were of my family and Hubby, and some were pretty hilarious. Watching them made me miss them.

Came across this picture too. This is the kind of fun that I have with my family. I don't have to pretend that I'm someone else in front of them. We enjoy each other's company and do crazy stuff like this one.

Its the end of the weekend for me. Work starts again tomorrow. Weekends usually pass by real quickly don't they? But it's good cos it means that I'm a week closer to finishing my posting here. Haha!

On Friday, Yip Song and Joo Ling came and pick me and Intan up for jalan-jalan. 1st stop, we went to Pasar Siti Khadijah. Basically, its a market place on the ground floor and on the 1st and 2nd floor, there are loads of batik, fish crackers, kelantan goodies like dodol and ladu for sale. Every stall sells almost the same stuff, so you actually don't have to walk around the whole floor if you wanna buy something.

These turtle eggs are sold openly in the market place. RM10 for 3 eggs is pretty expensive. Would wanna try that one day. Got to ask Yip Song 1st if it was nice since he got 3 for himself.

Ok ok, I know it's bad to eat turtle eggs since they are at the verge of extinction, BUT, its better to try them now when they are still available, rather than not having the chance to try them anymore after they're extinct right? Haha! No la, I just love trying new stuff. That's me. Its ok if you don't wanna try it or if you think that I'm cruel! (Jo Ween, if you're reading this, you got to try it together with me!)

And heard from Intan that Kelantan uses its own ancient currency as well, the Dinar and Dirham. Just imagine if you were to find one Dinar lying on the floor. Fatt Tat ah!

2nd stop, we stopped by where the museums were, which was just a few metres away. But sadly, everything is closed on Fridays, even tourist attractions. What a way to earn money and attract more tourists!

Since everything is practically closed, and it was freaking hot, we headed to KB Mall to cool ourselves down while Intan goes for prayers.

The mall is kinda small though. The most 'power' shop I saw was Giordano. If you're looking for LV or Gucci, sorry folks! And oh ya, there isn't a single cinema in the whole of Kelantan state. So I guess, not only PDA (Public Display of Affection) is banned here, cinemas are too.

With no where else to visit, we headed to the beach. We took about 20 mins to the oh-so-famous Pantai Cahaya Bulan. And dear me, when we got there, I was oh-so-dissapointed. The beach was worst than the beaches in Penang. We just hung out there for a while and played some 'primary school games' such as AEIOU & PepsiCola. Yeah, that was how unattractive the beach was till we resulted in these games. Haha. But it was fun though. And of couse, playing around with the camera.

22 More Days To Be Home

Just counted, 22 more days to my own nice-smelling bed, pillows & bolsters and of course, my not-so-nice-smelling Hubby. Haha. 22 more days before I fly back to civilisation! I've booked my ticket and I'm counting down the days :)

And I just realised that I've only been here for 4 days, but it seems like a week plus to me.

I'm kinda used to my life routine here already. I don't feel so ter-seksa as on Sunday anymore. One thing that I'm enjoying the most in Kelantan right now is the food. Went to another Ramadan Bazaar just now and this one lagi besar. And I've never seen so many different kinds of alien kuih and food. No idea what they were and my goal is to try all of them before I go back. Haha! Hopefully I can put on some weight here as well. With all these high calories and high cholesterol food, I believe I can, but it'll definately do some damages to my heart as well. Lol.

I Spent RM428 Just To Get Internet In Kelantan!

Posting at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) at Kelantan has been good so far. The physiotherapist that I'm currently under is one crazy, fun and knowledgeable lady. I'm happy about that. But life in HUSM is pretty slow paced and laid back. My usual routine would be to go to the ICU 1st thing in the morning, come back to the neuro gym to lepak and chit chat till the breakfast break, after which, come back to the gym to lepak again, go for lunch break, and after lunch head over to another ICU, which is followed by another lepak session then go home. Oh ya, did I mention, work starts at 8.10am and ends at 4.55pm and their working days are from Sunday till Thursday. And on Thursdays, work ends at 4.40pm.

Posting can be a good life experience, BUTTTT it is a waste of money as well. We are paying 8k per semester for our tuition fee and yet, we have to pay for our own accomodation, transport and etc. Our stupid MAHSA University College does not provide us with all these, unlike other colleges. And internet was a problem for me to be here. I've just 'sold' my broadband to Hubby's brother about a month before, since I have streamyx now in my new place, and therefore, I didn't have a broadband which I could bring with me.

So, I got the Digi postpaid broadband plan for myself, using my phone as the modem and the best part was that I can terminate it anytime. The whole thing only cost me RM78. But when I reached home, I realised that my phone does not support this function and this shit was happening to me the night before I was due to fly off to Kelantan.

Leaving me with no better options, I bought myself a new phone the next morning which supports this.

My new W350i costs RM350. Hubby pitied me since I was using my own pocket money to buy this and so, he chipped in RM100. Thanks baby boy, you're the BEST!

By the way, Selamat Berbuka Puasa to all my Muslim friends. Bought this for dinner tonight at one of the Ramadan Bazaars. There are many Ramadan Bazaars around here and I love them!

I'm In Kelantan

Yeah, the title says it all. I'm here for my clinical posting for a month. I've only been here for two days and I'm already looking forward to go home. This part where I'm staying at is kinda ulu. The only 'mall' around here is Mydin. It I want bigger malls, I would need to go to Kota Bharu, which is about 20-30 mins away (according to my friend). And I don't have a car with me. Ain't that great?

'Real' posting haven't started so far. Today was my 1st day and so far, it's all been briefings and orientation. The real deal starts tomorrow. Hope it'll be great!

By the way, I got to thank my friend Intan who found this nice place. Our room is pretty huge and clean.

On our 3rd day in Singapore, we set out a little later. 1st stop was the award-winning Singapore Zoo. They definately won that title for a reason.

We had a try on the Luge. It cost $12 for one ride. Really fun I tell you. A must try!

Basically, you have to take the 'cable car' up the hill (This is not recommended for those who are afraid of heights cos you'll be travelling up by sitting on a bench, with only a steel bar as the safely gear. And by the way, the view from the 'cable car' was amazing!) and then 'drive' this thingy, shown in the picture below, down the hill.

1st Singapore Trip - Take 1

At last, my dream of stepping out of Malaysia came true. Yeah, can you believe it? I've never stepped out of Malaysia EVER in my life. Such a 'sua pa kao' ('jungle person' in hokkien) right? So last weekend, Hubby suggested that we head down to Singapore since it would be our last weekend that we could spend together before I fly to Kelantan for my clinical posting. It is always nice travelling with him, what more out of Malaysia.

On Friday morning, both of us went over PBD to get out passports done. It only took one hour. Majunya Malaysia! Then we rushed over to KPMG building to get the bus tickets, headed home to pack our stuff and then rush to Holiday Villa to catch our 2.45pm bus. Crazy as it was but we made it on time. :) By the way, the bus we took, FirstCoach, was affordable and good. I would recommend it to those who wants to travel between KL & Singapore.

By the time we reached Singapore, it was already about 8pm. Luckily, we managed to locate the money changer, change some moolah into Sing Dollars to catch a cab to Hubby's cousin's place. Didn't do much that day. The real adventure began the next day!

First thing on Saturday morning, we took a bus to Suntech City and from there, we walked to the Esplanade and Merlion.

Hubby turned 26 over the weekend. To start off the special weekend, he bought himself an electronic drumkit. He had always wanted to get one and now that there's finally space to fit something this huge in, there was no more delay in getting it. To prevent being sued by neighbours, an electronic one was a more practical choice over acoustic.

Benny Greb Drum Clinic

As some of you might have known, Gary is kinda a drum freak. About few months back, he told me that Benny Greb was coming to Malaysia. I was like, 'Who the hell is Benny Greb?' Apparently, he's one famous drummer whom Hubby looks up to.

So Hubby asked me to teman him for his drum clinic which took place last Thursday. *Thanks baby for the tickets*

He started off with a short performance and then proceeded with Q&A session where he showed some techniques and gave the drummers in the house some useful advices. Although I don't know much about drums, but one thing I'm sure is that this guy is really good. His skills are powerful! Hubby's jaw dropped the whole evening. Haha. (just exaggerating)

And while Hubby was waiting in queue to get his autograph, I munched on the Black Pepper Lamb Pie that Hubby bought for me from Secret Recipe. Yum!

This is an overdue post. Anyways, I went hiking at Bukit Tabur with some of my coursemates the weekend before the last. Some of them brought their 'mates' along so I brought mine as well. Haha!

Bukit Tabur, situated at Melawati, is rated the longest quartz-rich ridge IN THE WORLD! The hike up enquires us to actually climb cliffs and boulders without any safety gear. Yeah I know, we were crazy. But if was one hell of a fun!

We took about 5 hours to hike up and down. It was a great experience. If you enjoy rock climbing, then this is a great place to hike. Sorry dear readers for not updating my blog for the past two weeks for I've been busy with assignment and moving. Finally I've moved and settled down at my new place. Just finish unpacking and arranging my stuff yesterday. *phew* So yeah, here's my new place.

My new place is pretty nice and clean. It's cheaper too. Things that the landlady provides are new. I mean, just look at the kitchen. The microwave, stove and etc are brand new. Unlike the old place, that terrible landlady gave us old stuff to use and we had to pay for it when it's broken (they were already half broken when they came anyway).

The next morning, we went snorkelling again and had real close encounters with hundreds of fishes. They swam just beside us and came real close. The feeling was amazing!

Then it was time to go. Reluctantly, I got up the ferry and bid farewell to the beautiful island. Hubby said, 'It's alright, we'll be back!'

Two weekends ago, I finally used the Free-Trip-To-The-Place-Of-Your-Choice 'Voucher', which was a birthday pressie from hubby. That Friday morning, Hubby actually wanted to take me down to Singapore for the weekend. But due to some complications we encounter at the Immigration Department (yes, we actually packed our stuff, hoping to make and get our passports that morning itself, then head down to Singapore..what to do, plans doesn't work for us), we headed elsewhere.

We stopped right before the Damansara toll, deciding where we should head to. And so, Pulau Redang was our lucky pick! We made a big turn and made our way to MRR2. We drove for 6 hours plus, just following road signs that points to Kuala Terengganu. Phewww, that was a really long drive!

The ferry services to Pulau Redang can be found at Shahbandar Jetty, which is at Kuala Terengganu itself. If you wanna travel over the East by bus, instead of driving for such long hours like us nutheads, then the bus terminal is just about 10-15 mins walk to the jetty.

We were lucky to get a good package deal at the jetty, since it was the beginning of school holidays and they were real packed. Our RM250 per pax package comes with two-ways ferry tickets (which cost RM100), one night accomodation at the Lagoon Redang Chalet, 4 meals per day and 2 snorkelling trips per day.

When we got there, we were mesmerised by the clear waters and spectacular sightings.

Later that night, we were lucky to see the 'blue sand' (Bioluminescent Ostracods, or also known as 'sea fireflies'). These tiny sea creatures emit blue lights to attract the females during their mating season. So, it looks as though there were glow-in-the-dark spots on the sand. God's creation is truly amazing!

Good new for those musicians or bands who haven't got your shots to perform for a crowd, here's your chance. John Thomas, one of the best drummers in Malaysia, and his bandmates organises a jazz jam session at Nero Fico near PBD every Thursday night from 10pm onwards.

Hubby, myself and Nagend went over there last Thursday for their very 1st session. It was awesome! Nagend sang that night while Hubby and myself just enjoyed the whole show.

2 weekends ago, I had the privilege to be invited for Hubby's family's vows renewal. It was his close aunty, uncle and cousins, getting their marriage vows renewed. A month ago before this, Hubby's aunty had fallen very ill, and they didn't even know if this ceremony, which had been planned earlier, could go on. But through God's grace and perfect timing that it had come to past.

Ever girl needs some 'girly time' with their girlfriends. Time to catch up and chat about everything under the sun. Time to bimbo around and camwhore, and time to talk about stuff that guys wouldn't bother listening to.

During my break, sadly, I only managed to catch up and hang out with 2 girls. 1st was Chuang Li, my ex-patient who turned out to be a friend. Since she doesn't really know many people here in Penang, I teman-ed her shopping before she heads back to Singapore.

Mother's Day was a week ago, but I've been lazy and busy so I didn't have the time to blog. There are many things that I wanna blog about, so just let me slowly clear them off one by one ya and scrap some off maybe.

My family never really celebrate Mother's Day, cos everyday should be Mother's Day right, meaning we should be treating our dear mothers well EVERY SINGLE DAY. To me, mother's love is always sacrificial. They would rather suffer and let you enjoy. They would sacrifice their sleep to look after you when you were little or sick and they would work hard just to give you a good life.

As a token of appreciation, our family had a simple lunch at D's Pizza & Grill on Mother's Day.

Dad Hospitalised From Dog-Bite Attack

Last Friday, while getting ready for bed, mom suddenly shouted out to me to get my driving license & car key, then she added, "Papa got bitten by the neighbour's dog and its quite serious. Faster go find him!"

I grabbed my bag and ran out of the house but didn't know where he was so didn't know where to drive to. Then I suddenly saw him at the corner of the road. His whole left leg were all bloody. Mom and I quickly rushed him to the hospital.

His wounds were so deep that the doctor said that he had to be admitted for surgery the next morning. After surgery, the doctor told us that the deepest bite had slightly dented the bone. Walao!

Few weeks back, Hubby and I were feeling kinda bored and so we went for a little 'photoshoot' behind my house. Since we now have each a camera, we need not wait for our turns to snap a picture. He had his dSLR with him and I had my little faithful compact camera. It was the war between Sony Alpha and Lumix. Here are just a few which I took with my little Lumix.

I just finished my exams less than a week ago, (which was the excuse of me not blogging often lately) and the good news was that I was the lucky 21 out of 50 over people in my class that made it though. Just 2 years ago, I suddenly became an aunty to 3 nephews when 3 of my cousins became parents to 3 baby boys. And last year, one more baby boy joined the family. I'm never really fond of kids, but these 2 are just real future-heart-breakers & adorable!
